Ruban Selvakumar
Ruban Selvakumar established Knight Way Advisors in 2023 after 20+ years in the alternative investments industry. He has spent the last 15 years at top-tier managers focusing on the challenges created by managing Private Credit, Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure, and public securities at scale within a single enterprise. Throughout his career, Mr. Selvakumar has helped dozens of companies from two-person start-ups to global banks prepare for their next phase of growth by leading post-merger integrations, launching new investment products, improving operational efficiencies, implementing technology solutions, and reducing compliance and operational risk.
Prior to founding Knight Way Advisors, Mr. Selvakumar held a broad range of roles across the Alternative Investment Industry.
- 2021 – 2023: Managing Director, Head of Strategic Projects & Change Management at Ares Management focused on creating an enterprise workflow and data consistency across all asset strategies.
- 2013 – 2021: Director at KKR where he initially focused on Strategic Projects within operations, technology and complex product launches, and later served as the Head of US & APAC Operations for KKR’s Credit and Public Markets businesses.
- 2007 – 2020: Partner, COO of two start-up companies with successful exits, G2 Systems (acquired by GFT) and G2 FinTech (acquired by KPMG), both of which provided software and services to alternative investment management firms.
- 2006: Vice President on the Financial Strategies team focusing on bulk residential mortgage acquisition and risk analysis at Countrywide Financial.
- 2001 – 2005: Transitioned to the financial industry at Carlson Capital, a multi-strategy hedge fund, holding various roles in quantitative research and equity trading, convertible bond modeling, and software development.
- Pre – 2001: Various IT/software development roles in the technology industry.
He holds a BS in Computer Science from Cornell University and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
